Additionally, Officers located a 2013 BMW 335i in the roadway with heavy front-end damage.

The driver of the BMW, Mr. Jason Scott, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital by MEDIC.

According to CMPD Speed is suspected to be a contributing factor for this crash. Mr. Scott was screened for impairment and was found not to be impaired. He has not been charged in this case.

Impairment is not suspected for Ms. Lorin Manley, but the toxicology report is pending.

The driver Jason Anthony Scott age 18 has a history of speeding:

The following citations were found in North Carolina, South Carolina was not searched.

May 10, 2024 65 MPH IN A 45 MPH ZONE.

September 2, 2025  59 MPH IN A 35 MPH ZONE

October 24, 2025 52 MPH IN A 35 MPH ZONE

The injured juvenile named "Mana" was returning from a shopping trip with her mother and grandmother, Lorin and Gloria at the time.

According to friends Mana survived the accident, but she remains in the ICU, facing substantial injuries that required extensive surgery.

She is being cared for by her older sister Maddie who was not with her family at the time of the accident.

A go fund me effort has been started by family friend Audrey Kieffer which can be found here and has currently raised over $40,000.00.

From the Go Fund Me site: The road ahead is long - once she is released from the hospital, Mana will need ongoing rehabilitation therapy, and the medical bills are already mounting. Maddie is now left to support her sister Mana through this unimaginable loss and the challenges of recovery, all while grieving the loss of their mom and grandma.

Cedar's Take:

Charlotte's roads are deadly. The mayor and Charlotte City Council created Vision Zero to help reduce traffic fatalities. The "committee" has suffered from lack of direction, leadership and guidance. Most of the originally appointed members have either resigned or simply don't attend meetings when the actually occur.

CMPD is short staffed and lack the resources to effectively enforce traffic laws. Charlotte roads are a stunning real life version of Fast and Furious and GTA 5.

Accident reports are no longer public information so the cause of this accident remains unknown. Given the "extensive" right side damage to the Honda and front end damage to the BMW it would be reasonable to assume that the Honda turned in front of the speeding BMW.

Mecklenburg DA's office offered no comment regarding any possible charges. CMPD's report has not been made public.
