CMPD Officer Injured By Drunk College Kid on I-85

According to CMPD an Officer sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries during a call for service on Interstate 85 (I-85) between W.T. Harris Boulevard and University City Boulevard in the University City Division.

On Saturday, Oct. 10, at approximately 12:39 a.m., officers responded to an Accident/Personal Injury call for service on I-85 northbound, assisting North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) with traffic control. At approximately 1:44 a.m., an occupied CMPD vehicle on scene was struck from the rear by a vehicle travelling on I-85. Both the officer and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

The CMPD officer was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was released from the hospital.

NCSHP and CMPD DWI Taskforce officers conducted a DWI evaluation of the driver, and the driver was determined to be impaired. After being released from medical treatment, the driver of the vehicle, Nicholas James Stedeford-Aaron, 22, was arrested and transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

  6. So they arrest Torreo but dont tell the story of why she fought another woman. It may be self defense or stand your ground. Go arrest Estella’s husband.

    1. We finally get a girl that puts hands on criminals, and we arrest her for assault. I had to lift my female sgt off the crowd and carry her away from swinging at a woman on the west side. They could have let that arrest slide.

  7. OK I give!

Crack on me about me my spelling if you must.

Most posts are done while I'm driving. (Relax its a boat albeit 85 feet and making around 18 knots) I'll correct the spelling errors at some point.

Just FYI I'm not posting about the swirl regarding CMPD Officer's text messages. But I swear if we start firing people for using bad words, even N eye double grrr we won't have enough uniforms to even present the Colors at a Panther's game.

That said don't text that shit.

And one more thing. Let's be careful out there.

    1. My question is will it set a precedent for anyone in a group chat being fired for saying inappropriate things if one person in said chat gets the content of their phone exposed due to a criminal investigation?

    2. Racism is low IQ and these people would just cause problems again in the future.

They ask questions during the recruitment process, and there is a lie detector exam. It’s better to look at those processes.

  9. I went to the hospital for an officer hit by a driver on John Belk. Only 4 cops came to hospital across the department of 1500 officers. Remember that when you are working on the freeway.

Goodwin was another sad story that was forgotten.

    2. I was thinking it was really much about nothing. I see little that would indicate racist conspiracy or even a "pool" with a big payout. The only disturbing chatter (Yes I'm the father of a 26 year old blue eyes brunette) I've heard about are the bets on some poor rook and who's on first.

    4. No, city will pay money to special interest groups to hold back their people. It’s just a money game for attention and funding.

One of the texting officers was black and another was hispanic. I can make jokes about them being productive with games and scoreboards, but it’s not neccessary.

    5. It was black people who sold other black people into slavery. No surprise there is a black officer and Hispanic. Most Hispanic culture teaches their kids to only marry someone who is lighter than they’re to whiten their blood line. Look around in at the blacks people in CMPD that has moved up rankings. I am sure they have heard a white co-officer used the n-word and they just laughed at it. They are just upset now because the N-word used against they. This is the South, the black house slaves are running the show. No surprise and more to come.

  17. Okay little boys and girls,

Charlotte public has pushed so much LEO out over 10 years that they had to lower their hiring options to fill cars and answer calls. Similar to Minniapolis, this allowed bad or unfit officers to exist and prey on the public due to staffing shortages. If you villanize the police to youth, then the city has to hire anyone they can possible.

Smarter idea..keep the text thread a secret and just quietly ask them to resign. It would avoid the media and attention seekers from damaging the positive image new LEO are trying to build.

    1. Totally agree. Another thought from someone that survived 30 years at cmpd, take your cell phone out of your contact number with the department. Either use your landline number or pay the extra money for a landline. The dept says you must have a contact number. Stop letting these sergeants and lieutenants call you on your cell phone or text you. Make them use the radio or email you on your dept email. If you're off they can call your house phone. Ya'll are crazy if you don't block every person in your contacts that is in your chain of command.

    2. Why say anything? You defend them, you are a racist. You criticize them, officers say you don't have their back. Oh, they could always ride the fence and give a boring reply just to get something out. That accomplishes nothing. The FOP just needs to get them a lawyer for the Civil Service hearing, if they don't quit before that (which is what they should do), and move on. And the rest of y'all just need to keep your mouths shut if you have thoughts like the texts. But I guess walking and chewing gum at the same time is too difficult.
