Last month Emanuel Isaac Parada now age 22 was sentenced to prison for the 2023 murder of Ja’Kez Kyiesh Johnson.

3 years ago Parada shot Johnson several times. Ja’Kez Kyiesh Johnson was taken to the hospital and a few days later died.
According to CMPD:
On Saturday, July 8, 2023, shortly before 5:00 p.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service in the 5000 block of Curtiswood Drive. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. MEDIC transported the victim to Atrium Health Main with life threatening injuries..
On Thursday, July 13, 2023, the CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) arrested a 15-year-old juvenile suspect and Emanuel Isaac Parada (DOB: 11/30/2003).
Parada, who was 19 at the time, was also charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana and possession of a stolen firearm. At the time he killed Johnson, he had just been convicted on weapons charges and sentenced to probation and community service.
Last month, Parada pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the case with a plea deal that would not only drop the first degree murder charge but also the drug and weapons charges.
Parada was sentenced to 157-201 months in prison and ordered to pay on May 14, 2026 by Mecklenburg Superior Court Judge William T. Stetzer.
The sentence calls for 157-205 months, but basically that means 13 years less his time served he'll be eligible for release on parole in less than 4 years.
Cedar's Take:
If you're black or if your child is black judges like Stetzer and DA's like Merriweather place little on black lives. About $10,000 the amount of restitution order to be paid by the killer to help the family with funeral costs.
These immigrants have come in and taken over the jobs all of the jobs prior generations of young Black males took. This guy needs to be deported so our youth can have a chance to make a little money and learn entrepreneurship. Ja'Kez never had a chance when the opportunity is taken before you can prove yourself.

DeleteHave you been downtown? It’s empty and full of homeless. The grass needs mowing off Eastway Drive. The traffic is horrible and Uni City has been a killing ground.
DeleteThe traffic is horrible because Charlotte has become a magnet for people moving here for opportunity and the federal DOT has not provided the resources to expand rapid transit and affordable solutions like extra electric buses. A toll lane to take out generational Black neighborhoods is not the answer. We have unhoused people due to public landlords driving up housing costs for the marginal worker. If we took those owned. communities and managed them with an equal allotment for affordable housing, this problem removes itself overnight.

DeleteOur proud Black leaders run Charlotte. We are a minority in citizens, but majority in leadership here. We are building a massive gap between us (Charlotte) and the rest of NC income-wise.
DeleteWe have a retiring mayor who has shattered the ceiling for so many proud Black women. We have successful events in our downtown core, with streets named after our wonderfully proud Black institutions like Brooklyn Village and Good Sam Hospital. We will soon have a newly built club in our neighborhood that celebrates the proud heritage of having a wonderful night out. We have an HBCU right in the heart of our side of town that is a leader in education in the area.
And by the way, America doesn't get to the moon without Black people doing the work we were never credited for.
