Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police (CMPD) officer, Malcolm Joseph, was arrested Friday night and charged with simple assault after allegedly pushing "Teen" Evan Brown age 17 off his bicycle in Uptown Charlotte. Brown and a group of "teens" were apparently riding recklessly and disrupting traffic.
The incident occurred around 2 a.m., Friday morning leaving the cyclist with a scratches on his wrist, back and a bruised elbow.
Evan Brown told a local news media outlet that he "and some friends were riding bikes and then popped some wheelies."
That apparently got Officer Joseph’s attention, and the officer allegedly parked very close to the teen.
Evan Brown told the news reporter: “He pulls in there, stops his car, he opens his door, and just like that, he tackles me pretty much”.
Apparently the teen was recording their antics so the local news aired a shaky video where you can hear Evan ask “Can I get your name and badge number? I was literally riding a bike down the street, and you decided to push me over”.
Then Officer Joseph is heard saying “It’s all on camera, bro; you all are doing wheelies all through the traffic. It’s lawful because I can catch you while you all are in traffic; you all are doing reckless driving.”
CMPD’s Criminal Investigations Bureau launched an investigation into the incident. After Officer Joseph voluntarily met with detectives, investigators obtained a warrant charging him with simple assault.
CMPD’s Internal Affairs Division is also conducting a separate administrative investigation. Joseph has been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of that investigation.
Department records show Joseph joined the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department on Sept. 3, 2024, and is assigned to the Central Division.
Despite turning himself in and being a Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Officer, Meck Co Magistrate Blackwell set the Officer’s bond at $2,500 secured because he lives in Rock Hill and is considered a flight risk. The Officer was finally released after 2 a.m. Saturday morning.
CMPD Chief Patterson:
"No one is above the law, especially those of us entrusted to uphold it. The alleged actions of this individual are troubling and does not reflect the values of our organization. CMPD is committed to building community trust through transparency and accountability.”
Cedar's Take:
We have a group of "Teens" doing wheelies Uptown in traffic at 2:00 a.m. and a CMPD Officer trying to restore order Uptown dealing with parentless mini thugs.
While the above image is AI - who hasn’t encountered homeless and drunks and teens on bicycles Uptown and wanted to do the same?
So what's up with this? Active suspension without pay. Seriously? CMPD is down how may Officers?
Atlanta has an authorized force of 2,200 and a population of 550,000
Boston has 2,500 and a population of 675,000
Charlotte 1,400 and our population is over 900,000
Charloot is so cooked.
And this is not exactly a great recruiting tool.
Seriously WTF?

Push me off a bike and you’ll get worse than a suspension. Your medical bills will be greater than 2500.
ReplyDeleteYeah..ok..shut up
DeleteCome at me with your bike and they will be pulling spokes out of your ass for a month.
ReplyDeleteAntifa?
ReplyDeleteAntifa= anti-fascist!
DeleteIn German, "Antifa" is an abbreviation for antifaschistisch (anti-fascist) or Antifaschismus (anti-fascism). It traces its historical roots back to the 1930s as a left-wing resistance movement to oppose the rise of the Nazi Party.
I believe, support, and respect Americans who fought against the German Nazi party in Wii. So I guess I am anti-fascist.🤔
Don’t do anything in uptown. We have guys watching the cameras all day and night at the real time crime center. This is another situation for penalize the troops.
ReplyDeleteThat’s dirty what they did to him. He didn’t do that randomly at someone.
DeleteCMPD is so trash…they’ll let brass get away with thousands in time fraud but if an ofc pushes someone off his bike, he gets arrested?
DeleteSo they were looking for an excuse? What is up with charging him before the investigation is complete?
ReplyDeleteInvestigation? Bro that shit don’t take long to investigate. Watch some BWC, talk to some people, look for cameras. Same shit we do all the time and arrest people. The investigation was done and buddy fucked up.
DeleteAt least he didn’t steal anything
DeleteToo all these new officers joining…know these two things that help you in your career when dealing with any questions/investigations

AND.... Hidey Hole! Stay in it and you don't have to worry about anything other than running out of snacks!
DeleteNew officers..
ReplyDeleteRealize that your older officers didn’t quit when Wes Kerrick got charged with murder. These officers didn’t quit when Raleigh was recruiting them. They never went to federal agencies or private sector work. They didn’t quit during the DEI push under Putney and Jennings.
What kind of person stays in this mess without serous problems or hidden issues? This isn’t the NFL so staying longer doesn’t make you an all star. Always consider your options and look closely at your coworkers during emergency response.
Not the first time he has done this. Can’t go wild on people for talking smack. If that’s how you roll, quit CMPD and go work as a bouncer at Onyx.
ReplyDeleteSo now he's a bad cop. The truth comes out. F-ing PIGS!
ReplyDeleteAnd you wonder why people go to their “hidey holes”, coordinator spots, airport or ride desks at this place…..this department will fuck you any chance they get!! People have done worse and weren’t arrested.
ReplyDeleteNews media won't say, supervisors won't say, anyone? What did he really do? Who did he go off on? Why the arrest?
ReplyDeleteThe biker was a juvenile that got hit. He got baited by a kid.
DeleteThe kid’s parent knows someone high up in the department and went straight to him with the complaint.
DeleteHere’s a fucking cheat sheet for you rookies. If you touch someone you get put in jail and media embarrassment.
ReplyDeleteIs the 100k worth it?
If you show up drunk then you are asking to get fired. He didn’t want to be here with us.
ReplyDeleteHe will be rehired at a different department in need of 3rd shifters with his BLET cert.
ReplyDeleteFuck wit us and get laid out. You know if you know
ReplyDeleteCops have substance abuse issues? Why would you fire them? Doesn’t that make theirs issues even worse? And arrest them for a criminal record, too. What a joke
ReplyDeleteSome cops eat food a lot. Some comitt suicide or fuck their coworkers
DeleteDoinking rookies IS fun!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like an officer in Nashville got caught fucking a coworker at a school while she was married this week. Who does sound like around CMPD? Lol
ReplyDeleteWe as an organization need to stop giving awards to people that don’t go outside the office. How do you get an award by sitting at the LEC and not encountering criminals or victims?
ReplyDeleteGarry will hire him at the jail
ReplyDeleteChannel 9 has attacked CMPD for years. Why would you let them in the academy? Is it really that bad?
