These Aren't the Sharpest Tools in the Shed

On July 14, 2026, shortly before 2 a.m., officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Injury call for service at 1004 Lewiston Avenue in CMPD's Freedom Division. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive juvenile Kamarhy Sanders-Livingston, 14 in the roadway with a gunshot wound to the head. On July 22, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. On July 23, homicide detectives obtained arrest warrants charging Tabius Joseph, 17, Juandriqus Dempsey, 17 and a 15-year-old male juvenile with Murder.

CMPD Affidavit regarding the shooting of Kamarhy Sanders-Livingston

On 7/14/2026 at 0153 hours, Freedom Division Officers responded to the area of 1004 Lewiston Ave in reference to Shooting incident. Upon arrival, officers located victim lying in the street in front of 1004 Lewiston Ave, suffering from gunshot wound to the head.

The victim was later identified as juvenile Kamarhy Sanders-Livingston, 14

During this investigation, Officers discovered that 1004 Lewiston was also shot into approximately 6 times. At this time, there is no proof that the residence was occupied at the time of this incident.

On 7/14/2026 at approximately 1100 hours was advised by Officer Kahn that he made contact with the Will of God church located at 4700 Willard St. He stated that the church had exterior cameras that may have captured the shooting incident.

Officer Kahn reviewed the footage and observed the following:

At 0150 hours on 7/14/2026 silver vehicle, believed to be Hyundai sedan, traveling Northbound on Willard St. The vehicle turned left onto Lewiston Ave towards the incident location. The vehicle made U-turn and traveled back towards Willard St. The vehicle stopped on Lewiston Ave and the headlights turned out. Shortly after, subjects exited the vehicle and muzzle flashes can be seen.

During the shooting, the vehicle began to slowly creep down the road and suddenly stopped as if the driver either wasn't paying attention to the vehicle moving or the driver was no longer in the driver's seat. It should be noted that the vehicle started creeping near the area where the victim was found.

After the vehicle stopped, two suspects ran back to the vehicle and got in. Once the two suspects were in the vehicle, it sped off northbound on Willard St towards Interurban Ave.

At the moment the suspect vehicle fled the area, male subject, identified as the male witness, Akoc Abwok, was seen walking up Willard St towards Lewiston Ave. Mr. Abwok appeared to notice the victim lying in the street on Lewiston and approached him. Mr. Abwok was seen doing something with the body, then walked to the corner of Willard St and Lewiston Ave near 4716 Willard St.

Mr. Abwok then walked back to the victim and began to do something with the body again, possibly rendering aid. Officer Kahn walked to the area where Mr. Abwok was seen walking to after messing with the victim's body. Upon arrival, he observed black Canik Mete MC9 pistol lying in the grass. It should be noted that the pistol was 9MM, which matched the caliber of the spent shell casings located on the scene.

Note: Akoc Abwok was not rendering aid, he was searching for anything of value, wallet, cellphone, money and in the process discovered a weapon. As first he didn’t take the weapon but returned to the body took the weapon and hide it in the grass nearby.

Mr. Abwok is a habitual felon and has now been arrested and charged with:

POSSESS STOLEN FIREARM
ALTER/STEAL/DEST CRIMINAL EVID
RESISTING PUBLIC OFFICER
POSSESSION OF FIREARM BY FELON

CSS responded to collect and process the firearm. The serial number (25CT02920) was ran and it was confirmed that the firearm was reported to be stolen. See the incident report under complaint number 20260707-0610-00 for further details on the Larceny of the Firearm.

I reviewed the footage as well. It appeared that, based on the location where Kamarhy was shot in the street, the location of the bullet hole, and that there was no evidence of return fire; he was shot by one of his coconspirators during the SIOD.

It's likely whoever fired from the driveway of 1007 Lewiston Ave was attempting to shoot over Kamarhy and hit him in the crossfire.

On 7/15/2026 made contact with the victim's mother, Ms. Kanisha Livingston, at CMC Main room 9002. asked her what she knew so far about what really happened and if she knew who was involved. She stated that following: Ms. Livingston stated that she could not get in touch with Kamarhy and began to get worried. She made contact with his ex-girlfriend. Makayla told her Kamarhy and his friends were at "Sky's" house. She did not know the address of the house, however she was able to describe how to get to the house. Based on her description and information gathered during this investigation, it was later discovered that Sky's residence was located at 4014 Whitehall Dr.

Upon arrival, Ms. Livingston spoke to his friend, juvenile K.S., B/M 1/12/2011, who was one of the people with the juvenile victim Kamarhy Sanders-Livingston that night. Ms. Livingston stated that K.S. initially told her that he was with girl. She asked him to take her to the location where Kamarhy was.

K.S. went with Ms. Livingston to the area of 1004 Lewiston Ave. Upon their arrival, she observed that police had the area taped off for the crime scene. She asked an officer what happened and they advised her that shootout occurred and someone was shot. They advised her that the victim was transported to the hospital.

At that time, they went to the hospital and discovered that the victim in this shooting incident was Kamarhy Sanders-Livingston.

Ms. Livingston stated that she questioned K.S. about what happened because she knew both him and Juandriqus Dempsey were with Kamarhy Sanders-Livingston prior to this incident.

He told her the following:

K.S. stated that this incident was due to beef that he had with juvenile that lives in 1004 Lewiston Ave. He stated that the juvenile shot into his grandparents' house sometime that night. Himself, Kamarhy Sanders-Livingston, Juandriqus Dempsey, and "Tobias", later identified as Tabius Joseph, B/M 5/21/2009, went to 1004 Lewiston Ave to retaliate for the SIOD.

K.S. advised her that they shot into the house at 1004 Lewiston Ave and at some point Kamarhy Sanders-Livingston was "hit". K.S. told her that he was driving the vehicle and he chose to drive away and leave Kamarhy Sanders-Livingston at the scene.

Ms. Livingston stated that K.S. told her that the vehicle they used was Hyundai that belonged to the father or stepfather of "Sky". K.S. claimed that "Sky" gave them the keys to the car and told them they could take it. Ms. Livingston stated that when she was at the Whitehall residence, male came outside and started asking where his car was that was parked in the driveway.

K.S. advised her that he crashed the car and left it at the end of Springbrook Apartments. He also advised her that he left his phone in the car. She mentioned to me that we found the vehicle already, however at the time of the interview, did not know the suspect vehicle was located.

Ms. Livingston stated she spoke to Juandriqus' mother, Jessica Dempsey, who spoke to Juandriqus. Ms. Dempsey stated that Juandriqus did not want to leave Kamarhy, however K.S. kept yelling, "we gotta go, we gotta go

While interviewing Ms. Livingston, Detectives Selph and Michael discovered the following:

On 7/14/2026 at 0158 hours, silver 2016 Hyundai Elantra SC registration 531BWN, was located in the area of 4040 Babbling Brook Way (Springbrook Apartments). The Hyundai collided with fire hydrant and sustained front dead damage. Officers reported that the steering column was damaged consistent with the Hyundai being stolen.

The Hyundai was towed by Bradley's Wrecker.

Officers discovered that the person in control of the Hyundai was Mr. Ladonix Williams, at 4014 Whitehall Dr. Officers made contact with Mr. Williams at 4014 Whitehall Dr and he advised them that he just discovered that his Hyundai was missing. See the incident report under complaint number 20260714-0158-00 for further information.

On 7/14/2026 at 1254 hours Officer M. Odum was dispatched to Bradley's Wrecker due to evidence being located in the stolen vehicle. Upon his arrival, Officer Odum observed cell phone in the driver's seat area of the vehicle. The phone had clear case on it. On the back of the phone, through the case, debit card belonging to K.S. was observed.

The phone was seized and turned in as evidence.

It should be noted that the suspect vehicle, where it was stolen from, where is was left, and the fact that officers located it shortly after the shooting incident, was consistent with Ms. Livingston's statement to me.

It should also be noted that K.S.' phone being located in the driver's seat area of the vehicle matches Ms. Livingston's statement that K.S. was the driver of the suspect vehicle.

noted that the night of the incident, both Ms. Livingston and Ms. Dempsey advised me that they knew Juandriqus was with Kamarhy Sanders-Livingston at the time of this incident.

It should be noted that his phone was off and he was unreachable for hours after this incident. Ms. Livingston stated that all three named subjects were friends and hung out together.

She knew Tabius' full name and was positive he was also involved in this shooting incident based on information provided to her by K.S..

Based on the facts listed above, believe probable cause exist to charge K.S., Juandriqus Dempsey, and Tabius Joseph with AWDWIKISI, Felony Conspiracy, Injury to Real Property.

Cedar's Take:

Can you imagine having the mental inadequacy needed to name your black child Devonterival? or Kha-Zai? Tabius? Juandriqus?

You’ve just birthed a black child and your first thought is I’m going give him a name that says up yours to all the white Racist Colonizers and Zionist sympathizers. A name that will chart his course not to success but rather prison.

Seriously why are we not charging the parents of these thugs? I mean "Teens"?

  1. The parents are working two jobs to pay rent. Cedar, can you control a teenage boy or girl?

  2. They blame these problems on every major city. They request more funding. They lie about the stats after receiving the funding. That’s why DOGE was created to fix these problems. Less funding is less corruption. Starving niggas don’t have the energy to do wrong.

They can arrest whoever, but if the institutions that deal with them post-arrest fail to do their part then why bother arresting anyone?

  5. It’s time Charlotte own up to removing racist names on streets and using Black and brown heroes to give our next generation an example to follow.
Providence is rooted in the vestiges of racism. Whether it was a rural crossroads built by slaves or the tony road we know today, it needs a new identity.
Charlotte needs a Major road named for Ms Rosa Parks. Providence needs to be renamed Rosa Parks Way, and all references to Providence should be renamed and rebranded Rosa Parks

It is high time the Black coalition leaders drive this change for the betterment of all Charlotte

    1. Charlotte usually marginalizes their minority history contributions but for RBP it was built by us, for us, named for one of our proud own. CMPD refuses to patrol it so it gets a bad rap. Now they’re trying to take it away from us with curfews and other Jim Crow throwbacks
