Another Young Homicide Victim

CMPD says a 12-year-old boy died after being shot at a north Charlotte home Thursday night

Ahmad Wrighten’s death is being investigated as a homicide, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Anthony Rashad Wigfall, 34, and Demetria Robinson, 32, were arrested and charged with murder, CMPD said. Police said the boy had “sustained apparent trauma” when paramedics responded to a home in the 5600 block of Sunwalk Court at about 11:30 p.m.

They took him from the residential neighborhood off Statesville Road to Atrium Health hospital, where he died, police said.

Emergency dispatch radio obtained via Broadcastify revealed officers were called to the scene at about 11:30 p.m. after someone “shot an 11-year-old.” CMPD confirmed police were responding to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service and later said the victim was 12.

  1. Chip, we got 300+ openings…how would you fix CMPD with making it worse? I want to know your thought.

  2. People are still going to do this job no matter what. It’s crazy people mostly, but someone has to do it. Sgt Ramsey is killing it out here.

  3. Hats off the cops that have ungroomed beards and tats on their forearms like gang members. Good stuff

    1. I thought the Pineville officers looked bad, but some of the CMPD guys are the most unprofessional looking cops I’ve ever seen. I know you think you look hot with your tats and scruffy facial hair but honestly you look dirty, and unkempt.

    2. ^^I saw a cop downtown and he had tats on both arms. The guy was fat with a beard. He was playing on his phone and not looking up. He was leaning on a wall while being paid to work. 🀦🏿🀦🏿🀦🏿🀦🏿

    3. While I agree …..what does that have to do with the story?

    4. I think 1132 hours is raising awareness around lower standards of law enforcement due to poor public perception, internal corruption, low pay, and bad administrative decisions that impact employment.

    5. It’s it just CMPD. If CFD lowers their hiring standards any lower, you’ll just have to step over it. There used to be THOUSANDS that took the entrance exam. Now, even beating bushes, grabbing any lose soul off the BFR, they still can’t get close to 400. Next they’ll start recruiting at the Homeless Shelter or the Transit Shelter Uptown. With each step you lose 1/3-1/2 to the process.

  4. I hope the death penalty is not only applicable, but imposed. Quickly. Do trial. Establish guilt. Execute. All in a month.

  5. Demetria used to work at my kids daycare. It was a well regarded 5 star location off Tryon. There has to be a mistake. Innocent until proven

    2. Miss Deme as my son would call her, is a wonderful caretaker. There is more to this story. Mr Wigfall may be involved but in narcotics, but I do not have firsthand knowledge of that. I hope Ms D gets out on bail and her old job back so she can move forward

  6. What did Jason Grier die from at CMPD? He worked here since age 18 so he must have had something wrong with him. When they don’t say the cause it usually means something bad like Starnes. RIP Brother!

    2. That sucks if it was cancer. He’s such a young guy to get cancer. At least CMPD backed him.

  8. I would like to see cops earn a professional salary. I would also like to see higher standards and less internal drama.

  9. The pay thing is just a spider web. They try to keep you longer and you get stuck here. If you do this for money then we don’t want you in North Tryon.

    2. 824, bro my supervisor from NT stopped showing up to work so they just moved her to a different position at LEC and now she is higher rank. Anything goes and you just need to survive out here. I am going home in one piece.
