Three thugs steal a car in Charlotte and go on a multi county crime spree. They made one big mistake getting arrested outside of no cash bail Mecklenburg County.
Here's David Whisenant's report:
By the way local media types might take notice. Whisenant is old school "just the facts ma'am" reporting is top shelf. Pure news no fluff and error free.
Three men from Charlotte each faces a long list of charges after they were arrested following a pursuit on I-85 in Rowan and Davidson counties on Friday morning.
According to the report, the incident began when a China Grove Police officer attempted to stop a gray Honda Civic on I-85 near mile marker 71 just after 2:20 a.m. The officer said the license tag on the Honda was obscured.
As he attempted to stop the car, the officer said the driver, now identified as Cortez Quandaz Springs, 23, sped away going north.
A deputy with the Rowan Sheriff’s Office joined the pursuit. He reported that the driver of the Honda was driving recklessly, making frequent lane changes, weaving in and out of traffic, and that the driver turned off the Honda’s lights in an attempt to get away.
Deputies say the Springs make a sudden exit off I-85 at exit 79, went up the ramp, traveled across the road ignoring the stop sign, then drove across to the entrance ramp and got back on I-85 headed north.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol joined the pursuit as it headed into Davidson County.
Deputies say that the driver of the Honda sped through a construction zone where workers were on the job, knocking over several barrels in the road.
Springs then got off I-85 at exit 103 near Thomasville and turned right on Highway 109. As he attempted a turn onto Lee Road, deputies say Springs crashed the car into a ditch.
A Rowan Sheriff’s deputy who responded with a K-9 to that scene had to grab the dog and jump out of the way when the Honda rolled backwards down an embankment. The Honda struck the patrol car. No injuries were reported.
After a foot chase through the woods, the three men were apprehended.
Charges:
Springs was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting/obstruct/delay, drug possession, failure to stop for lights/sirens, felony flee to elude, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
Timajia Lamonta Martin, 23, was charged with drug possession, resist/obstruct/delay, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a stolen firearm.
A’vonne J’rell Williams, 22, was charged with resist/obstruct/delay, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony larceny, conspiracy, and drug possession.
All remain in the Rowan County jail.
The driver Springs has a long history of drugs, weapons and other violent crimes.
Convicted on a 2020 armed robbery charge just last month he was given just 24 months probation.
Timajia Martin has nearly a dozen Mecklenburg County arrests, with convictions for AWDWISI in Mecklenburg County and AWDW GOV OFFICER in Union County.
Martin was also only given 24 months probation in both cases.
A’vonne J’rell Williams just another long history of drugs, weapons and violent crimes with six arrests in Mecklenburg County.
Williams was recently convicted in Mecklenburg county and wait for it..... was given just 24 months probation.
Aimee Aquino is still alive and works here, but Jim Guard kills himself. One is small and weak. The other is big and muscular.
ReplyDeleteGoes to show the strength of the mind in our lives and careers.
Depression is demon to so many. Would have never guessed.
ReplyDeleteThis is just unfreakingbelievable. Well actually totally believable this is exactly what democrats wanted.
ReplyDeleteThere are many officers that are suicidal at CMPD. They usually have a record of problems or impending legal issues.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe they are the ones who are always taking the shit calls you dodge and in turn expose themselves to the trauma this city has to offer. You ever thought of that!
DeleteThere are different “cops” on this department. Some do nothing and sit in holes. Some hide at schools. Some hide at LEC. Some drive a car for 10 hours until 6am. The CMPD failed Jim and his family. There are cops doing nothing and still alive here.
DeleteIn positive news, they finally got the car on cinder blocks off Brookshire after 4 weeks. Thank you!
ReplyDelete8:56 I'm going to guess the 11 cars between Wilkinson and Providence on 485 are part of the same problem? The one at the Wilkinson Inner Ramp is totalled - how is it that these drivers can refuse a zone wrecker?
ReplyDeleteThe homicide unit lost an officer to suicide since she put a guy in jail for 3 months without probable cause. They said she died at home but didn’t give a reason(early 40s)
ReplyDeleteSad times
CMPD ?
DeleteWho ??
DeleteWe got what 7 homicides in 7 days? Noogies going crazy. You know it's bad when it is not just limited to Popeyes!
ReplyDeleteSo quick to resort to violence. When will they see the light?
DeleteThinning the herd.
DeleteRetro active birth control.
DeleteWell boys keep you head on a swivel tonight. Change up your hidey hole if that's your thing. Lights out when parked. Stay off your cell phone and let's be careful out there......
ReplyDeleteEveryone knows you need multiple Hidey Holes. The important thing to remember is Get In It!
ReplyDeleteThe brass be watching your GPS for lack of movement.
DeleteI’m in the hole and it’s damp and toasty. I love my job. No suicide here.
ReplyDeleteWhat officer from another agency shot themselves yesterday at the range?
ReplyDeleteGet out of your hideyholes and start taking back the streets
ReplyDeleteWe've reached the point where we need to start caring again. Screw command lets make this right.
ReplyDeleteI question how some officers make it through 30 years, when they obviously didn’t care like Dave Hudson. Some cops are marathon runners to control their MH problems, but some just eat food to numb their feelings like Bellamy. I guess Jim was selfish at heart and had lived long enough.
DeleteThey always used Dave for “fed work” since they would never hire him. He just stood there on the scene.
DeleteStop making us work 13 hour days while CCs and brass go home at 3pm. I might start caring again…
ReplyDeleteOr the LTs that have neverrrr done any real police work and hid inside office as rookies.
Delete1357 you are soooooo right.
ReplyDeleteCommand staff has no money in the game, they are waiting to retire, don’t rock the boat. Status quo and leave the problems to another person, there are units that limp along because command doesn’t want to get involved.
ReplyDeleteTruth Brother. I luv your input
DeleteThe Transportation LT said he ran down the street towards the shooting in Romaine Bearden park. He said there were LEO assets all over the area at that time, too.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone believe him?
Can I get a relief at Checkpoint D please? I need to pee!
DeleteDon’t they give you a bucket?
DeleteNope. Not since Mazzeo screwed it up for us!
DeleteCan y’all just be happy at your jobs? Be grateful to have a job and thank God for everything CMPD has given you.
ReplyDeleteCMPD ain’t given me nothing but migraines.
DeleteThere was literally a murder at Trade and Tryon this week. What does that say about staffing?
ReplyDeleteDown 350
Settle down there sweet pea. Y’all are getting 80 this week.
DeleteWe want Lancaster!
Delete80 you say eh? I’m willing to bet they graduate about 65 and that’s being optimistic. You’ll have some quit the first and second weeks. The ones that are just here to get their certification will leave just after hitting a division and then you’ll have the “what did I get myself into” 5-7 leave shortly after that. So maybe we have 50ish still here after that first year. Meanwhile within that same time frame we lose a bunch to retirement and attrition. Until there is a command staff actually interested in keeping what they have now the bleeding will never slow down. With Jennings staying another 3 years that ain’t happening anytime soon.
Delete322: You haven’t been around here lately..
DeleteSome recruits go straight to 1st shift. Some go straight to FIB. Some go straight to South. The idea is to keep them happy until they get a baby and can’t leave.
Well send some to the airport. I need to get my breaks in. It’s hard hanging out at checkpoints all day watching YouTube.
Deletehow'd yall let the black Duke brother go, who jumped a car on rims at T&T Autos? Did he crawl away or was he helped out?
ReplyDeleteScared to go hands on
ReplyDeleteGlad I’m gone from all that Charlie Foxtrot. Getting my check, sitting back and laughing all the way to the bank! They can’t right that ship (CMPD/CFD) if they tired. Nobody would agree it’s upside down, then they’ll argue which way is actually up. You’ll see fewer and fewer people actually staying until retirement eligible, and the City will make it more and more difficult. They ain’t looking out for you. If you think they are, I have some swamp land and a bridge I need to sell.
ReplyDeleteWe miss u come back
DeleteEven if you doubled my prior salary, I wouldn’t grace any doorway of any City building. I actively steer people AWAY from that dysfunctional organization. It’s just not worth it anymore to work for those asshats and clowns. Thanks, I’ll just wait on my checks and laugh from the sidelines.
DeleteUr fagass probably work in North last ten years doin nothin. Now disappear from our department my nig
DeleteJust make sure you complete all your State required online training before the end of the year. Oh, and can someone at least leave 1/4 of a tank of gas in the car so I can get to the D&D to get my coffee before running calls all day?

DeleteChomp down on my generously-sized derrière if you dare! I'm hiding like a pro, and the city's admin folks and City Council are too swamped with their own shenanigans to track down my elusive behind. I'm on a mission to defend my "Hide-n-Seek Champion of 2023" title!
Hahahahahaha
DeleteCMPD hired a guy from our homeless outreach program. You can get 80 but be careful.
ReplyDeleteIn other news, the FOP endorsed Dimple
ReplyDeleteWho cares? Hardly any of patrol lives in the city/county. Just give me my raise every year.
DeleteI take an Indian over a nooger.
DeleteIt’s just a job
ReplyDeleteWe have gone 10 days without a death within CMPD. Always remember JJs four pillars of success.
ReplyDeleteWho cares?
DeleteLittle victories my friend.
DeleteLittle
Victories.
Wow..just saw the promotion list..anyone ever contact the civil, service board and clue them in on some of those people?
ReplyDeleteLike Who? Did Kiefer get it?
DeleteYou won't believe CFD's list! It's like a comedy show in there. You've got a couple of decent picks, but it's clear they're not consulting the folks who actually have to deal with these characters. It's like a jungle gym of ladder-climbing, backstabbing, kool-aid drinking, knob shiners!
DeleteI got news for you. It’s been this way for 20!years.
DeleteLook, show up to work and do your job each day. Worry about yourself and make sure to cover your ass. Don’t give the time of day to the worthless pukes or you will burn out in 2 years. It’s a marathon. Enough said.
Delete^^^thanks coward
DeleteUr welcome rook
DeleteI can’t stand these old guys that tell you to do nothing and just sit here. I want to make a difference and help make my community safer. If I catch some days from IA then fuck them. Old timers need to get lost and stop stealing our money. Word Love Peace.
DeleteJust keep workin so I’ll have my pension at retirement, rook! Oh, looks like there are 10 calls holding. Better check out on a zone check or phantom traffic stop. Right rook?
DeleteZone checks have been gone here for a while, Billy Bob.Tell us some old war stories about Jump Out Boyz, and getting BJs from Allie and Amy.
DeleteAh, the jump out boyz, the Crown Vics, the dynamic entries, all of it, it’s all true.
DeleteThe job is dead.
Who cares?
