Monday April 29, 2024 - It's Been a Hard Day

U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Officers were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on a career felon when the subject shot 8 members of the team killing 3. Wounding five others. One of the wounded was CMPD Officer Joshua Eyer who succumbed to his injuries hours later. Two of the dead are NC Adult Correction Officers Sam Poloche and Alden Elliott. The deceased US Deputy Marshal has been identified as Thomas Weeks. The four injured Task Force Members including CMPD Officers are expected to recover from their injuries.

This is a tragedy that not only weighs heavy on Charlotte but also our entire Nation.

This afternoon at just after 2 pm Mrs. Cedar did what 100s of other CMPD family members did, she checked in with those who know. She ran through a list of friends and family asking if they are they OK?

A buddy check just to be sure everyone was safe. The response was thankfully a short "We're OK I've got to go".

But we are not OK we are all family and we all hurt.

Prayers for all our CMPD Officers and their families, prayers for the members of our United States Marshals Service and their families. Prayers for our North Carolina Department of Adult Correction Correction Officers and their families. Prayers for our Nation.

To those who step up to form that thin blue line, we will never forget. We are forever indebted to you and your families.

  1. Hey politics aside, my heart goes out to the officers and Marshals hurt and to their families.
    Tragic day for all involved.

  2. This world is crazy and people don’t care anymore. Charlotte is full of drug users with guns and they don’t care about their lives.

  3. Does anyone else remember when Chief Jennings shot down the idea of giving officers load bearing outer carrier vests (with higher protection) because he didn’t liked how they looked? Wonder if he’s regretting that decision today….

    1. So they knew he had a rifle and was on strike 3. They showed up with 9 people total which tips off the convict to what is coming next. He didn’t want to go back to prison for life.

I arrested a convict with a shotgun several years ago, and the guy ran down the street to escape and tried to climb in someone’s car.

Prison is worst than homelessness. Remember that when felons have a rifle on strike 3.

    2. I thought cmpd wasn't involved until shots were fired? Is that not correct? The Marshal had his 2 task force members, were there more people involved to attempt to serve the warrant?

  10. There are 100 reasons this should not have happened.

    1. IT IS VERY SIMPLE.This POS should have been in prison for his numerous crimes instead of walking among us.I was shot in the line of duty many years ago while serving a warrant. The suspect was a TWO time murderer and yet he was walking among us.He had done his time and yet he was on the outside.Oh by the way,MECK DA did not prosecute him for shooting a police officer. He did six months for the original warrant and then went to a rest home.Yes justice was fully served that day.YEAH.

  11. This turd should not have been out in the community. Of course there are crickets from the DA's Office when asked about the recent dismissals. They have their heads in the sand...

  12. Not to bring politics into a horrible situation, the the rifle supporters can see what happens when a nut gets a rifle in their hand. It’s like a junkie with fentanyl or a drunk with car keys.

Vests don’t protect from rifles and I doubt those feds and responders had rifles in their hands upon approach.

The deck is against cops every day every way.

    1. Im still waiting for someone that says the same stupid thing as you did to give a reasonable answer on how you will prevent criminals from getting weapons when laws taking guns away from law abiding gun owners?

      Delete
    2. A rifle is unnessary for self protection or hunting. It just shot 8 cops with handguns

      Delete
    3. Then start banning everything that can be used as a weapon! 🙄

      Delete
    4. Not everything takes down 8 cops that are armed.

    5. You still can't answer the question how banning rifles and taking them away from law abiding gun owners will stop criminals from getting them. You don't even know that all bullets that hit every officer were from the piece of shits guns and wasn't there a .40 cal involved? I hope there was no friendly fire but it appeared to be chaos.

    6. 1053: They banned the Tommy Gun and I have never seen a criminal with one. Problem solved.

    7. Then that should solve your problem!

  13. It’s weird seeing the cowards that have done nothing their whole careers and avoid field work that “show their support” or “our family member” or “we got your back” for these fallen men. We are looking at YOU..JJ and LYLIES.

They didn’t have Wes Kerrick’s back or any of the other 50 cops targeted each year by brass.

Just shut up about “what we do” since these heroes are one of the few people that actually work around here…and now we never forget them.

    ReplyDelete
  14. CMPD media says the North Tryon Divison community was grateful for the fallen hero's work at addressing the community’s problems. Since when did the community start praising cops? Even the mayor was quiet until a death of an officer. How many prior offenses did the killer have with NO CONVICTION? We train these criminals to get bolder and understand police approach to homes. I hope the hero’s death can light a flame to conviction 100 more felons a year with grant funding and oversight panels to hold DA accountable as a watchdog like Cedar.

Thanks for listening to my two cents.

  15. So, they tested the two woman taken from the house for gun powder residue, and at least one came back positive yet they still released one of them to roam free? No way one person did all that shooting with two different weapons. Don't piss on my leg and tell me it’s raining.

    1. Makes sense. Thanks man

    2. Marshals are looking into friendly fire as I'm sure every agency is but I don't understand why the woman was released. Who was this woman to the perpetrator? Also, did she purchase any of the weapons for him?

  17. So Brandon is going to stumble around and talk about how "Corn Pop" was a bad due and that he knows the families pain because his son was killing in Iraq and eaten alive by Haji.

Vi Lyles will flow fake tears and Johnny will say how proud he is of his officers.

Then he'll forget the names of the two NC Corrections officers and Deputy Marshal.

    OMG this is so sick

  18. I keep a rifle in my truck for active shooter situations only. The cops are outgunned and scared to engage for political sake. We need to take matters into our own hands.

    ReplyDelete
  19. 1022 I'm thinking the same way. Tactical advantage to the habitual felons was made clear in 1997 with the North Hollywood Bank of America robbery and the running gun battle that occured. LE was out gunned and much of what was learned still hasn't found its why to CMPD.

    1. I remember that. Cops had to raid a gun store to fight back. Plus, it takes cops 1 hour to respond to 911 and it’s just a fat guy or young kid.

  20. None of this happens if Charlotte would approve the recommendations, and lobby for legal cannabis. All the charges stem from a man who had to grow his own, since it is 'illegal' in this state. Time to get wise and quit running down plant growers who will do awful things when faced with a third fake strike.

    1. I’ve spoke to many people that said they will never return to prison under and circumstance. They will shoot back and that’s why felons can’t have guns due to recidivism rates.

      Delete
    2. I dont care what your racial divide stuff is, weed shouldn't be illegal and cmpd own task force recently told all of you that you should be lobbying to change the laws. If those laws were ignored, like they should be, 5 people are still alive and 5 families have their fathers back putting food on the table each night. cmpd and us marshall going after someone growing a few plants is just insane.

    1. I agree..it sounds like he knew they were outside. He went for the gun and took them out. Poor CMPD had to respond and they all got hit with no information ahead of the respond. His GF probably got him that rifle with her name.

He didn't prepare remarks and messed his speech up and then got caught yawning on the news cameras. Poor guy needs to move on to a new time of his life sitting on the porch, not running a major police dept.
