Charlotte's Latest Homicide Victim Apree Dontel Leak Age 22

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit responded on Tuesday, November 12, shortly after 3:30 a.m., to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service in the 8500 block of South Tryon Street. 

According to CMPD the victim, Apree Dontell Leak, 22, was transported to the 8500 block of South Tryon Street in a vehicle before getting the attention of a MEDIC truck to assess his injuries.

Upon arrival, Steele Creek officers discovered Mr. Leak with a gunshot wound. MEDIC transported Mr. Leak to Atrium Main and later pronounced him deceased.

Prior arrests including most recent charges of felony possession, simple assault and weapons charges were either dismissed by the Mecklenburg DA's office or given deferred prosecution.

Mr. Leak’s next of kin has been notified of his death.

CMPD continues to investigate this case which is considered active and ongoing.
