Avion Dingle (Walker) 15

The first "X" Post was simple

And hour or so later the CMPD press release:

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s (CMPD) Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 1000 block of Merrick Street in the North Tryon Division.

On Thursday, June 26, shortly before 11:30 p.m., officers responded to multiple 911 calls related to shots fired in the 1000 block of Merrick Street. The investigation revealed that one individual had sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene by MEDIC.

1030 Merrick Street Charlotte, NC

While CMPD gives a general block address, the  Atlas One APP gives both 1000 block of Merrick Street and 1030 Merrick Street.

The location is an apartment complex just off North Tryon Street.

Several hours later, a Local news station leads with:

"Suspect ‘wantonly’ fires into northeast Charlotte apartment, killing 15-year-old inside: CMPD"

A neighbor who did not wish to be identified said the 15-year-old had knocked on her door a few minutes before the shooting happened. She said he appeared to be running away from something before he died. This neighbor said the shooting happened inside the building, not from the outside.

Social media quickly names the victim as Avion Dingle who may be the same as a rising junior at Lincolnton High School.

Amber Walker takes to social media says that is her son and that is not his name and demands the post naming Avion as the victim be taken down.

Rahmelle Dingle says that's his boy and now the crowd is arguing about several posts on Facebook, Charlotte Alerts and the National Gun Violence Memorial.

Avion Dingle is listed as Class of 2027 at Lincolnton High School.  He would have turned 16 in November.

CMPD has yet to name any suspects or the victim. A week from now most of Charlotte will have moved on. The names are forgotten and the numbers fade and soon no one remembers the names any of the 30 shooting victims under the age of 18 in the Queen City.

This is Charloot at it's worst. This is the city that Charlotte Democrats have created. Lawless, cruel and with zero justice.

  2. This is normal Charloot. This is Black Charlotte and it is hard. His momma is from up north they are even harder. Notice she's angry at Charlotte Alerts. She angry at people calling her son by his father's name so the kid didn't stand a chance. His daddy has a dozen arrests but there was hope as Avion record is clean. But what parent lets their 15 year go to Charlotte on the Thursday night? What mother let's her kid roam the streets at 11:30?

    1. The majority of the voters in charlotte are new residents living in areas of Charlotte not affected by this stuff. They don't watch the news, have no idea any murders have happened, and go about their day at the brewery or latest LoSo, Southend, or Uptown spot.

  5. We need more youth anti-aggression programs. More counselors. More funding for school. More everything but guns.
More affordable housing makes his mom more time to acquaint where and what he is doing. Free healthcare makes it possible to get counseling for generational trauma.

    Do better Charlotte!

    1. How about starting with consequences for people committing violent crimes. And put vocabulary words back in elementary school. good grief!

    2. Everyone wants affordable housing until they realize that means THEIR house won't appreciate and they'll never be able to sell or use it as an asset (one of the major benefits of owning your own home). When you're still upside down on your home 15 years after you purchased it, then you'll stop crying about affordable housing. How about controlling the supply of apartments in tradionally middle-income neighborhoods? That's the problem. When you build 10,000 apartments with rents of $2500 for a two bedroom, those $250,000 homes become worth alot more. But no one will tell you that, because the developers make money on both ends. Push for responsible development of communities, which solves the gentrification problem and the out-of-control market price increases...while maintaining appropriate appreciation so people's assets are still gaining value

  6. It's the guns. Prosecute negligent legal owners. First offense illegal possession 5 years Second 10 years mandatory screw judges discretion. Felon with a gun 10 years.

Juvenile with a gun automatic active prison.

Traffic stop and there an illegal gun everyone gets charged.

Group of thugs gets questioned on the street one has a gun all get charged.

Make it uncool to own a gun things will change.

    1. Hold owners responsible for letting guns fall into the wrong hands. Make it legal for home insurance to drop gun owners. Until we black ball those who cling to their guns, our kids are going to continue to die.
NYC is going to show us the way once the new mayor takes office.

    2. Too bad there is this pesky thing called the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution. If a communist is elected mayor of NYC it will be (insert any communist regime) all too soon.

    3. NY has tough gun laws, and the crime is still high. Does that mean guns are the issue, or poor education and drugs are a bigger problem?

    4. That must explain why every Democrat run city with super strict gun laws is a peaceful utopia. If only we could be more like NY, Chicago, LA, New Jersey!

    6. Tough laws need thorough enforcement across the whole area. All owners in the Carolina’s need registration, background checks, yearly licensing and testing, dna registry and proof that your weapons are under lock and key unloaded.
Hopefully Jeff Jackson gets Thillis’ seat and can make these changes for us

    8. We need community therapists to de-escalate tensions. NYC is going to lead the way in this regard.
Survival rates on knife and cars is much higher than murderous guns

    9. 1819, ummm no

Cars kill people in street at higher rate then shot attempts.

Maybe you don’t want them to die..just scar them?

    10. Avion would still be with us without guns…full stop
Yearly training. Ammo tax to pay victims of gun violence. Annual training. Insurance cancellation.
      All common sense solutions
Cmon Jeff, the time is now to run!

    12. When we create opportunity zones in all the neglected areas of Charlotte, the need to commit crime to provide for our family is reduced. A rising tide only lifts the ships if they are in the water, and far too long, the POC in Charlotte have been left high and dry. Crime is currently down but when we accelerate the advantages to the historically forgotten areas, crime will near disappear

    13. why would insurance companies want to cancel homeowners policies that have lawful guns to protect their property? So the unlawful gun owners can rob and murder them without any defense? I'm sure that's exactly the type of claims insurance companies want more of.

  7. I just watched a fansinating documentary on homeless people that used to work for the city government where they are now homeless. That explains why so many people at CFD and CMPD are this way. It makes for funny stories in the media, but it protects them from going homeless in Charlotte. A pension is a like a welfare check with a different wording, and prevents the threat of street life for these employees.
