According to CMPD a Florida man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the double homicide of two men in northwest Charlotte on Thursday.
One of the victims who was murdered was the owner/operator of the Bojangles restaurant in Cherryville, NC (owned by Vishnu Properties, Inc)
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department identified the victims as Anilkumar Patel, 54, and Pankaj Patel.
Per sources, a contractor working on a motel argued with Pankaj. After leaving the scene, the contractor returned and shot Pankaj seven times, while Anil, who had just arrived to help Pankaj with a business deal, was shot twice.
The incident occurred near the site of the former Lamplighter Inn on Eddleman Road (Lucky Penny Street) at 1;15 p.m. on Thursday, October 2nd.
The CMPD Homicide Unit responded to the scene after reports of a shooting. While initial reports indicated that the two victims were rushed to a local hospital, CMPD confirmed shortly after 3:30 p.m. that both men had died from their injuries.
The investigation led authorities to identify and follow the suspect who had fled the state. Alvaro Luis Ozuna Sierra, 38, was taken into custody in connection with the shooting early Friday morning, October 3rd, in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
While Ozuna-Sierra has no apparent arrest record in Mecklenburg County he does have a North Carolina criminal record per sources.
We have been running off people for years, and now you call in the Feds? Sounds like a bailout for the diversity hires.
ReplyDeleteIf I was National Guard then I would only stick around my own people.
DeleteYou guys have “diversity hires” on the brain. The FOP calling for national guard sounds like a surrender…. “We can’t do our job send help” bad move for the FOP, kills any credibility and makes the rank and file look helpless.
DeleteImagine explaining that to recruits or prospects.
DeleteThe rank and file are helpless. You're not the guy who gets his ass kicked every day, but keeps telling everyone you don't need help, are you?
DeleteYou central guys just cannot shut the fuck up on the radio. I get it, your dispatcher has zero competence or control of the channel. But the amount of nonmaterial blabbing you guys seem to need to broadcast is absurd.
ReplyDeleteI'm convinced this is the channel thar anyone yelling 33 can't get their 20 out because you goons will key up constantly asking the 20.
1048 fuk you. Don’t tell us how to police.
DeleteTell em rook!
DeleteGet off the radio. It’s a whole division of Zrebics
Delete"Don't tell us how to puhweese"
DeleteThe city picked a shithole private security firm over you idiots to police the park.
Go sit in your cars fattening up all you want, but stay off the radio.
That shithole firm is run by our former DC Estes. It’s just dirty money like the CATS Security making 18million.
DeleteDoesn’t explain why cent div cant be trusted with the smallest park in CLT
DeleteNorth Tryon and Metro have parks you can’t go in during lunch time. They had that white girl shot in the park and her jewelery stolen afterwards. It’s not a Central thing it’s a Section 8 thing.
DeleteAll the Command in Central are a joke. No leadership or any real police experience. CMPD will continue to disintegrate until a true leader with integrity takes over. Accountability among Sergeants and above needs to take place for positive changes.
DeleteLT was at the scene and just as clueless as the boot rooks.
DeleteRBP again?
ReplyDeleteThe bottom line…the CMPD administration failed to properly recruit, retain, and train the staff necessary to protect the public. Requesting aid from National Guard shows their inability to adapt to changing times and rising crime created by liberal courts and relaxed jail reform.
ReplyDeleteYou can’t blame the current state on the current staff. It was the former staff that created this problem. People are literally masterbating in the parking lot of headquarters, extorting women, and going home to die. People retire and die in 2 years.
DeleteThe root cause is much deeper in the deep state of our local government.
The phone cameras changed the game for police. You can’t just bust a man’s head in anymore. That scares away a lot of good talent.
ReplyDeleteCan we get a real chief this time? You know someone who will look out for patrol and not play favorites? We've been in the "dark" so long I doubt it would make a difference. Just tired of getting shit about overtime.
ReplyDeleteThe city managers are not going to hire anyone they can’t control. One of guys who was a possibility when they chose Monroe would have been a great chief, but you could see he was not going to be a city council puppet so they picked Rodney, and we are still picking of the pieces that he created and stuck with people he promoted. It will a new chief years to turn the department. Kinda hate to say it but when we non African Americans chiefs the dept ran better.
DeleteYeah well, that opportunity will never again present itself. There are plenty of other high paying agencies who don’t subject you to the tomfoolery of what CMPD has you endure. It really is a choice to remain there at this point because pay isn’t an excuse anymore.
DeleteWhat are the solutions? What is the timeline for success?
DeleteYou absolutely right 2014.
DeleteHarold Medlock is a leader and our department and city would be wildly different today had he been made chief. He may have a few years of callback left in him to try to bail this dept out
It’s not worth the stress for the money. It has to be someone from the inside that knows the factions and problems.
DeleteJacklyn Bryley
Charlotte making national news for all the wrong reasons again...Just sick... https://nypost.com/2025/10/05/us-news/male-bus-driver-who-goes-by-ms-sharon-charged-with-sexually-abusing-multiple-boys/
ReplyDeleteI used to stay up near Lucky Penny. Liked the location. What’s the construction going up there?
ReplyDeleteSounds like the Patels tried to double cross the Ozuna clan. Gotta pay for work performed. The Patels love to screw you and leave you unpaid
