Mint Hill Officer Involved Shooting

According to News Media reports - A man was killed, and two officers were hurt in a shooting at a busy Mint Hill shopping center on Friday morning.

On December 26, 2025, at approximately 10:47 a.m., Mint Hill Police officers responded to Edible Arrangements, located at 6832 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, regarding a child custody exchange.

During the interaction, the male subject produced a firearm. An exchange of gunfire occurred, and two Mint Hill Police officers were struck.

Both officers where transported and are currently in stabled condition.

The unnamed male subject was shot and was determined deceased at the scene.

Unconfirmed Sources tell CP that the "prearranged" custody transfer was supposed to happen at 9 AM and a call for service was placed by either the former spouse or passerby. As is normal procedure two officers were dispatched to what was described as a domestic argument over custody.

Shortly after arriving on scene the suspect engaged officers with a firearm without warning. Both officers were stuck and one was able to return fire and call for aid.

Cedar Notes: The above is from sources believed to be reliable but not confirmed by MHPD or NC SBI. Will be updated as the story evolves. Grateful that both officers are in stable condition and may be released as soon as today Saturday December 27th. The name of the deceased has not been released.

More: Some reports have the Officers entering the Edible Arrangements store then quickly exiting the storefront helping each other one obviously wounded. Based on nothing more than random sources the Officer encounters the suspect inside the store upon seeing the Officers he began firing at both Officers who returned fire. It is not clear if dispatch was aware of a weapon or not.
