Murder By Numbers

To work Homicide in Charloot must be an odd thing and being the CMPD PIO must been a pressure cooker of a job.

Spin is everything. So how do they keep the murder rate down?

Take the murder of Glenntavis McCorey (44) and D'andre Weaver (29) on November 30th.

Glenntavis McCorey

D'andre Weaver

The Atando Avenue crime scene with the body of Weaver and crime scene tape flutters in the early dawn half light, simple the vic is dead thanks to multiple gunshots. That's one more body. One more homicide that means Charloot is closing in on 100.

A few blocks away, a car crash with Glenntavis McCorey (44) who is also shot.

Damn that's 2!

3 press releases and then crickets.

1 the shooting announcement.

Then a press release 2 to ID Weaver later that same day.

Then 24 hours later a press release 3 to ID McCorey.

Because it's murder by numbers, one, two, three

It's as easy to learn as your ABC

But today the murder of D'andre Weaver is listed as "Exceptionally Cleared" and the murder of Glenntavis McCorey, 44 is erased from the CMPD homicide crime data.

One less homicide, more more case cleared. A double win.

McCorey shot Weaver, and Weaver fired back. Two bodies but only one homicide. Simple.

But why nothing from CMPD?

Two lives lost on a street that is no stranger to homicides.

Four killings have been investigated by CMPD in the 100 and 200 block of Atando Avenue since 2023.

At 2:45 a.m. on April 29, 2023, a man was found “with traumatic injuries” and he died at a hospital, CMPD reported in a news release. A suspect was arrested on May 1 of 202 and charged with first degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Jan Keneth Meza Figueroa (18) was fatally shot and a second man injured in the same area in September of this year.

And now two more so CMPD Math works like this 1 plus 1 plus 2 equals 3.

Crime is down!

By and Large Charloot is a safe city because it's murder by numbers.

  1. What’s your point? People know CMPD are liars. Look at their hiring standards and retention rate. Don’t waste our time with the obvious.

    Captain list…WTF

    2. You have people in the top 10 that are on the fast track on moving up. One is just a chaffeur and he is going to become a captain.

  4. This has been going on for a long time and will only get worse because all NC State Senators currently running for office are democrat and they love a good cover up. There is a Democrat running as Republican in Durham but she has always voted Democrat and no Niqab wearing Muslim is going to vote Republican. I cant understand how those face coverings are still legal in NC. You could never identify someone committing a crime. I'm not sure when NC Senate filing closes but if you know someone in District 22, get them to run!

  5. Our leader of protection is requesting 24/7 security for threats. Do understand the humor with that? How do you look at that guy in a meeting and not start laughing?

    1. And?

The new chiefs husband sued the city for a bogus diversity promotion and got settled out. That’s like stolen money.

    4. 8:05 He took the test, found out he failed, and immediately went home sick. The exam didn’t cost him a promotion. His reputation and poor management skills did. He sucked as a captain and is VERY racist. He’ll complain about the contractors working at his lake house as he gets out of a new Mercedes and telling people how he’s being held back while his wife is a Deputy with CMPD. Once you pass any promotional test at CFD, you’re placed in a “pool” of eligible candidates. It’s the fire chiefs who has the final decision. He wasn’t promoted because is terrible in any leadership position. The idea that he was passed over or discriminated against doesn’t line up with reality. He wasn’t promoted because he performed badly in leadership roles, plain and simple.

    5. Ah yes.. the fire department that lied about Crystal Eckart and cost the city 2 million.

      Great place good people

    6. CFD hasn’t won a lawsuit in recent memory. The Command Staff are the reason, they think their own rules don’t apply to them. Many member's are very dissatisfied with the place. Those who are remotely close to being eligible to retire are jumping ship. The moral is horrible, and their social media team only cares about getting people in the door, or DEI goals. They also are horrible to those retiring or retired, like they never existed. Leadership only cares about themselves and the place is heading downhill. It’s amazing what the Chief has allowed to happen in just a couple years, like RoMo

  6. No way this is real two guys have a shoot out both die and it's only one homicide? It's either two or none. I don't care who fired first.
