Kids with Guns and Stolen Cars

The day after the official Christmas Holiday was a busy day for CMPD as Officers pursued suspects involved in violent crimes.

The first chase began shortly after 8:30 a.m Tuesday morning, when CMPD was alerted by a license-plate reader to a car that was associated with a reported armed robbery and carjacking the night before.

CMPD Deputy Chief Jacquelyn Hulsey said the victim of the robbery told police he was robbed at gunpoint and his car was stolen.

Shortly after the alert Officers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle.

The driver refused to pull over and a vehicle pursuit ensued as the vehicle was associated with a crime dangerous to life. Stop sticks were deployed on West Boulevard. The suspect vehicle crashed at West Boulevard and Donald Ross Road ending the pursuit.

The driver of the vehicle identified as Monet Darrisaw was pronounced deceased at the scene and the passenger was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The fatal chase comes after public outcry over police chases, but the department policy is clear:

In this case CMPD Officers had reasonable suspicion the driver or occupant had already committed a crime dangerous to life.

Hulsey said the pursuit lasted 10 to 12 minutes. Until, officers deployed a stop stick tire deflation device on West Boulevard. She said the car kept going until it crashed into a tree near West Boulevard and Romare Bearden Drive.

CMPD’s Internal Affairs is investigating the pursuit to ensure officers did follow policy, Hulsey said.

In the second case two juveniles were arrested after leading Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers on a car chase Tuesday afternoon.

Police say during an attempt to stop a stolen vehicle in the area of Beatties Ford Road and Brookshire Boulevard, the suspect vehicle refused to stop.

Officers disengaged and their helicopter monitored from overhead.

The suspect vehicle later crashed and engaged in a foot chase with the occupants, leading to the arrests of two juveniles.

Both juveniles were transported by Medic to the hospital with minor injuries.

    2. If the crew on the corner knew it had a gold grille, there’d be nothing to clean up.

  6. So we know the problems at the city. How do we fix these issues? Less funding, more arrests, higher pay for teachers, firing leadership?

  7. There was a great video about non profits making money off these issues. They contribute to the campaigns of the city leaders, so the issues just increase to increase the need for the non profits.

    Dirty business.

  8. Ask anyone with CMPD and they will tell you there are far too many apartments in Steel Creek the entire area is going to spiral into Compton or Patterson or worse Peabody-Darst-Webbe

  9. ^^^where do you expect people to live? They don’t want to live on the East or West side!

  10. Apartments are magnets for a certain class of people. But when you build too many that's all you have. Steele Creek is a cesspool of poverty not as bad as West Blvd or Hidden Valley or W. T. Harris but a cesspool just the same. Developers own Charlotte City Council so they will agree to any multifamily project. In Charlotte it has happened over and over again. That's why all the well off have moved to Waxhaw and Weddington, Belmont and Lancaster. It may take 10 years but thanks to Charlotte Mayor by 2035 Charlotte will be indistinguishable from Baltimore or New Orleans or St. Louis

  13. So I just had a beer with a cop that got fired last year. He said he was trying to fight it but his attorney said he is not in a “protected class”. I never heard of it, but they can’t fire gays, blacks, women, and Mexicans for that reason as per the attorney. That might be why the girls can get caught fucking at work and not get cited. I never knew that.

    1. Most serial killers are white guys. Usually if a black person kills multiple people, it is considered a gang crime or something else. Just like when the black guy ambushed all those people at the Christmas parade. They initially called that an accident even though he drove through barricades and sped up to do it. No one ever called him a serial killer even though his intent was to kill as many people as possible.

  18. I think 12:25 is speaking of the Idaho college students murder suspect as a serial killer. Maybe there are other victims? Maybe this isn't his first kill? But no surprise the killer is white, there aren't any nuggets within 500 miles of Idaho.

    1. He killed a CPD officer in early 90’s after revolving through Charlotte and NC courts with multiple murders under his belt. Your DA didn’t start being soft on his own. Peter Gilchrest started this party.
