Joseph Kinton McAfee Shooting Death Deemed Justified

CMPD says the man killed in NoDa last night was Joseph McAfee, 23. Officers say they have interviewed all people involved in this case and no charges are expected at this time. Additional sources (unconfirmed) further ID'd the victim as Joseph Kinton McAfee age 23 of Monroe.

If ID'd correctly someone needs to send the shooter a fruit basket and a thank you card. McAfee had more than a dozen convictions and arrests in the last 3 years. Weapons and Theft convictions mainly.

POSSESSION OF FIREARM BY FELON (PRINCIPAL) 04/19/2021

LARCENY BY SERVANT/EMPLOYEE (PRINCIPAL) 05/16/2020

LARCENY OF FIREARMS (PRINCIPAL) 03/06/2020

LARCENY FROM PERSON (PRINCIPAL) 06/27/2020

3M REIMPRISON VIOL (PRINCIPAL) 02/08/2023

POSSESS SCHEDULE VI (PRINCIPAL) 02/07/2023

Sources tell CP that McAfee and another man attempted to rob an individual at gunpoint and that individual exercised his constitutional right and terminated the threat.

While CMPD Detectives decision not to charge the shooter is subject to review by the Mecklenburg DA's Office it is unlikely DA's Merriweather will disagree with thier findings.
